Handling yap_Binary Files

To enclose yap_Binary files in your documents you have to transfer them to the web server independently and apart from the page that is supposed to link to them in the end. You can not compose binaries by the means provided by Pie, but have to create them offline and upload them en bloc. Yet, the top-down approach of content creation still applies here. As with pages, where a parent introduces a child through a link, binaries, too, can be brought into existence by placing links in a document and by following such a link to the respective upload form.

As with pages, you should assign your binaries nice Pie-friendly names. "Pie-friendly" means extended Pie-names. Unlike page names, yap_Binary files' names end with a dot and an extension that specifies their type much the same as with most file system standards.

Once your file is successfully uploaded, it can be linked to by its bracketed name. Brackets for linked binaries are necessary because yap_Binary file names, like Pie-names, represent a non-standard superset of Wiki-names and as such are not recognized and extracted to stand out from ordinary continuous text. Local images, that is, files with the extensions .gif, .jpg and .png, that are stored on the local server, are directly displayed inside your document instead of just being linked to.
